Hariharapura-Yajnas,Homas & Pujas

Vedas describe clearly the Creation and various evolving forms and 'gunas' of His many manifestations. God alone manifests in the form of Sun, Agni, Varuna, Air, Aakasha and through various 'devthas', the external activities are being implemented. Though the tasks carried out by each 'devtha' are different, they all act upon by God alone.

Since the days of the Vedas, man has worshipped the Creator through Homa/yajna. There were no temples or idols in those days. He worshipped through the all-pervading Agni, which, unlike air and water, can digest anything and still remain pure. Agni cannot get polluted. Agni is there in the 'Brahmanda' as well as in "Pindanda" (our body) and represents God or Brahman. As such whoever intends to perform 'karma' ought to see God through Agni.

Homa (Yajna) means worshipping the 'invoked deity' through Agni to the chanting of Vedic mantras as per injunctions. While doing, the performer, 'kartha' should have a full sense of faith and surrender. Yajna means realising through Sacrifice. The 'ya' stands for sacrifice and 'jna' for understand, realise or to know. The kartha should have first the will to sacrifice. God's blessing flow into a pure heart and purity can be achieved by sacrifice.

For an ignorant person, it is unbelievable or difficult to comprehend that how TV picture or sound sent somewhere is received at his set or an email sent in his PC reaches someone across the Globe in seconds. Similarly, when a 'rtwk' performs a yajna as per kartha's desires and wishes, kartha's "Ishtartha" will be fulfilled. The 'Rtwk' invokes the relevant Devta in order to fullfil the desires (ishtartha) and offers ghee, cereals, pulses, samith (twig cuttings of different plants), paramaanna and such other homa dravyas in the homa kunda fire, where Agni swallows and delivers to the invoked Devtha. That is why Agni is only an agent, who delivers the 'havis' offerings to the Devtha, given with due devotion.

When a Homa/yajna is concluded, the Rtwks (pundits) should be paid 'dakshina', as they holeheartedly had invoked the Devtha of your need and offered havis on your behalf to bless you and fulfil your desires. At the end, there has to be a 'bhojana' (feast) to all the invitees. This feeding satisfies them and their blessings add up to your benefit. Unlike scientific experiments, which are in the physical plane, homa and yajna are related to one's mind and heart and needs firm faith.

One can receive God's blessings only when heart becomes pure. This is achieved easily through homa/yajna because at that time, we are worshipping God physically, orally and mentally viz. we physically offer havis, chanting the mantra orally and at this time, we mentally meditate. "Trikarana Sudhi" (purity of body, mind and heart) can be easily achieved through this homa/yajna. So worshipping God through homa/yajna is considered as a most effective method of our Shastras.

Because, as per Puranas, the Great Daksha Yajna was performed here, we have constructed a unique and exclusiveSomeshwara Yaga Shala according to all agama, shilpa and vaastu sastras and that is why performing your desired homas, yajnas etc. here is considered most effective and auspicious.

1. Please note that the following are a few and commonly performed general homas and Sevas. All sankalpas in these homas are general. (for example: A Dhanvantari homa is performed for Health, Arogya. But when in critical or a surgery/treatment to be performed, specific needs taken to consideration. The 'homa sankys' and the 'dravya for ahuthi' may change. For specific purpose or as advised by your astrologer, any homa with homa shanky increased and use of various 'dravyas' etc., can be performed and costs will be given on requirement and request).

2. The details, costs etc., are to be taken as tentative indications and might change any time.

3. From time to time, from Sree Math, homas and poojas are conducted with announcements in this site as well as our magazines, Sadguru’s BLESSINGS and Kannada language SWAYAMPRAKASHA. Devotees are welcome to participate in such homas, at small costs.

4. It is always beneficial for the devotee to be present and participate in the homas, poojas. However in such cases when you cannot be present, we shall carry out such sevas and forward you the Prasadam, to your address given.

HOMAS, YAJNAS AND SEVAS There are as many homas as humans have desires and it is difficult to list all of them. Given below are some general lists of common homas. Here homas are performed as per “dashamsa”, meaning, if you have to perform 100 homa ahuthis, you do first 1000 Japas, then 100 homas,10 Tharpanas and 1 Bhojana. Other Sreemath Sevas:

1. You can sponsor a room or a flat in the Lakshmi Nivas Guest House under construction, by contributing Rs 75,000 for a room or Rs 2 lakhs for a flat. Your name will be displayed and you will be eligible for a 15 days free stay each year.

2. ANNA DANA CORPUS FUND: Free food is provided by Sreemath to any one in the noon and night daily. Especially on festival days, about four to five thousands are provided food. In addition we provide mid day meals to school students. A corpus fund is now being created to manage this Anna Santharpane’

3. SWAYAMPRAKASHA VEDA PATASHALA: is being run by Sreemath with about 24 students and 2 Teachers. Free food, teaching, accommodation is being provided for this 4 to 5 years Veda course. It costs about Rs 1000 per student per month. You can sponsor one student for one year by contributing Rs 12000.

4. A full fledged “Goshala” (Cow shed) is managed by Sreemath. There are presently about 42 cows with calves and this is increasing. There is need to build additional sheds and provide more facilities. It costs us minimum Rs 1500 per cow/calf per month. You are welcome to sponsor one cow/calf for one year by remitting Rs 18,000.

5. With implementation of the Master Plan and expansion, there are requirements like a Electric Generator Set of about 125 kva, a power transformer, Solar heating and lighting systems, Water pumps and storage needs, furniture like cots, mattresses, fans and fittings etc for the guest rooms. Your generous contributions to the Renovation Fund will help these activities.
